Price Receives Life Membership

Allan Price of Martindale NSW was inaugurated as a Life Member at the start of Season 5 of the Berkley B.A.S.S. Australia Nation Series after a long history of fishing tournaments in Australia.

With a life time of fishing experience going back to when Price was a young child living in London, England, Price has had a passion for fishing since his grandfather gave him a rod at the age of 10 years old. He remembers walking the shore line of Hyde Park and the London canal system chasing Redfin using float and bait techniques.

In 1972 Price moved to Australia and brought his love of fishing with him as he moved up and down the East Coast of Australia chasing a variety of species using bait. Initially he focused his attention on Black Fish as he felt the style was very similar to what he had practice back home and loved the hard pulling reputation of the species.  As the years progressed into the late 70’s Price starting dabbling into lure fishing and found a passion for the sport fishing community.

In the early 80’s Price caught his first bass on lure using a simple glass rod and became instantly addicted to the species, catching them time to time for the table and for the enjoyment of the sport. Price actually worked and lived on the banks of the Richmond River for a time, and fished in the Lismore Fishing Club, and really started getting into tournament fishing winning the Bridge to Bridge and coming runners up in the ABA events.

Over the past 20 years Price has been a lure only angler and in the year 2000 did his first ABT event, which solidified his passion for tournament fishing. Fishing as a co-angler and a pro angler for the past 17 years, Price still loves the fact that he meets some great people in the tournaments and gets so much out the comradery involved in the events. Great friends like Barry Reynolds, Adrian Melchior and many more, give Allan the drive to compete as hard as possible at every event, and the enjoyment he has travelling through the series is the main reason why he competes.

In season 1 Price won the Co-Angler division on Lake Boondooma and has been very competitive in a lot of events and Angler of the Year titles. A learned and passionate angler, who still reserves the right to study the art of fishing and educate at every available moment, Price is a testament of what the Australian tournament community encompasses, and is a role model to many of the other anglers.

We have witnessed Allan Price help out so many people over the past 4 years, donating his time, expertise for a huge number of anglers that have broken down, and also donating his boat, that he was well deserved of a Life Membership of B.A.S.S. and B.A.S.S. Australia. At some events, Price would give up nearly his entire practice day to return home and retrieve his boat, and help out others with breakdowns, allowing them to get back on the water.

Celebrate Allan Price and what he stands for and applaud the first B.A.S.S. Life Member.

Congratulations Allan Price from the Australia Bass tournament community.
