Ken Gerke claims the Gangster Lures Clarence Kayak Open, in what was considered an extremely tough bite for the 2nd round of the Native Watercraft Kayak Series.

Gerke managed a solid final day limit and ended up claiming his maiden B.A.S.S. title by 470 grams over a fast finishing Jonathan Chen and Alan Britcliffe. Landing the largest limit of the tournament Gerke proved that it was more important to be consistent than to weigh the largest bass in this tournament.

Chen had a zero in the first session, but changed tact and worked out that the bass were sitting deeper and further offshore, so he went to a deep-water presentation. Like wise Britcliffe who didn’t manage a single scorer in the first 2 session came home with the largest sack of the tournament, and also took the Tonic Big Bass of the event.
With 25 anglers competing on the river this week we need to that the great hospitality of the local people who helped out and we can’t wait to come back to the Clarence again in the future.
